Former Belgian international footballer Radja Nainggolan has been arrested as part of an extensive investigation into organized crime and cocaine trafficking in Belgium. The operation, led by local authorities, included around 30 raids across the provinces of Antwerp and Brussels. The investigation reportedly focuses on a network suspected of importing cocaine from South America through the port of Antwerp, one of Europe’s largest trade hubs.
According to reports, Nainggolan, 36, was taken into custody following a search of his property and vehicle, which were subsequently seized by investigators. The Brussels public prosecutor's office has confirmed the footballer’s arrest but refrained from providing further details, citing the ongoing nature of the interrogation process.
Nainggolan, a high-profile figure in football, has enjoyed a notable career, having played for prominent clubs such as AS Roma, Inter Milan, and Cagliari. He earned 30 caps for the Belgian national team, gaining widespread recognition for his performances in Serie A and international tournaments. Recently, he returned to Belgium to play for Lokeren-Temse, a club in the lower divisions.
