Tragedy in Benue: Truck Crash Claims Nine Family Members in Their Sleep

 A tragic accident unfolded in Okete, a serene community in the Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State, on Thursday morning when a truck crashed into a residential building, killing nine members of a family.

Sources reported that the incident occurred at approximately 5 a.m. while the family was still asleep, leaving no opportunity for escape.

Preliminary findings revealed that the truck experienced brake failure, causing the driver to lose control and collide with the house located along the roadside.

An eyewitness recounted, “The incident happened early this morning when most people were still in bed. The loud noise from the crash woke up the neighbors.”

The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the incident. The command’s spokesperson, Catherine Anene, stated, “The truck rammed into a residential building, killing nine members of the family. The unfortunate incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday.”

She further assured the public that a thorough investigation into the crash's circumstances had commenced and promised to provide additional details as the inquiry progressed.
