Ogun State Begins 100MW Power Project in Ewekoro

OGUN STATE LIGHT-UP PROJECT: PHASE ONE KICKS OFF WITH POWER TURBINE INSTALLATION

Ogun State has officially commenced the first phase of its ambitious Light-Up Ogun State project, with the installation of power generation turbines in Ewekoro. This groundbreaking initiative is set to deliver 100 megawatts of electricity across the state, with the initial 30 megawatts dedicated to providing uninterrupted power supply to the state capital, Abeokuta.

During an inspection of the project site earlier today, officials expressed optimism about the project's potential to transform the state’s energy landscape. The turbines, once operational, will significantly boost power availability for residential, commercial, and industrial activities, driving economic growth and enhancing the overall quality of life.

The project follows the Federal Government’s recent decision to remove power generation, transmission, and distribution from the exclusive legislative list. In response, Ogun State swiftly passed the necessary legal frameworks and began the practical implementation of its power agenda.
