The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially unveiled the timetable for its 2026 primary elections, reaffirming the party’s commitment to internal democracy, transparency, orderliness, and strict adherence to electoral guidelines.
According to the approved schedule:
- The sale of nomination forms will run from May 5 to May 10, 2026, while completed forms are to be submitted between May 11 and May 13, 2026.
- Screening of aspirants will hold from May 14 to May 15, 2026, with the screening results expected to be published on May 17, 2026.
- Appeals arising from the screening process will be entertained from May 18 to May 19, 2026, while the final list of cleared aspirants will be released on May 20, 2026.
- Primary elections are set to begin on May 21, 2026, with simultaneous ward-level primaries for State Houses of Assembly, House of Representatives, and Senate positions. Governorship primaries will follow on May 22, 2026, while the Presidential Primary is scheduled for May 25, 2026.
- The process will conclude with a meeting of the National Executive Committee on May 26, 2026, and the Special National Convention on May 27, 2026, where final ratifications will be conducted.
As part of efforts to promote inclusivity and encourage broader participation, the party also approved a structured fee schedule for nomination forms. The presidential form is set at N100 million, governorship at N50 million, Senate at N20 million, House of Representatives at N10 million, and State House of Assembly at N3 million.
To support greater participation among underrepresented groups, the ADC has approved a 50 percent discount for youths, as well as a 25 percent discount for women and persons living with disabilities.
The party urged all members, stakeholders, and aspirants to strictly comply with the approved timetable and guidelines throughout the electoral process.
